How I am Loyal to the Nerdist Podcast Empire

Chris Hardwick, Founder and Host of Nerdist Podcast

I will happily self-disclose that I’m a nerd, so it’s fitting that one of my favorite podcast is the Nerdist Podcast which started back in 2010 and has 866 episodes as of the date of this blog. It’s hosted by one of my favorite people in the 90’s, Chris Hardwick. So I like to think there is already history between us.

The Nerdist Podcast is not only is it funny, it’s nerdy, and it’s usually stand-up comedy and/or TV shows or movies, that I have invested a lot of time, money and emotions into but it normalizes it in a way that makes me feel like I’m not alone in my crazy obsessive nerdy pop culture world.

At first, I didn’t understand why Chris Hardwick chose the podcast format since TV channel G4 was already in the area of nerd culture, I really thought the it would have been a good blend at the time, but then the channel went under and Nerdist Podcast became home for me and a lot of other people. Why? Because making a podcast is more cost effective than creating a TV show on a cable network and podcast tend to be more loyal to their fan base which is why the Nerdist Podcast continues to run even with the occasional season run of  a TV show which may generally run for 10 episodes or so.

It’s part of the reason why I think Nerdist Podcast has work so well and has actually been able to create and brand a complete empire, Nerdist Industries, which includes a whole line of podcast aside from the original Nerdist Podcast but it has manage to completely restart Chris Hardwick career entirely in TV as well as he hosted after shows on BBCAmerica in regards to Doctor Who and AMC for The Walking Dead.
